THE MAGIC OF MOON MOUNTAIN

At Ty Caton Vineyards, our commitment to excellence begins in the Caton Vineyard. We sustainably farm the hillside fruit to craft exclusively estate wines that are a unique expression of the Moon Mountain District. Each month, you will receive two to four bottles of wine that have been hand-selected by our team along with a tasting mat to hone your tasting skills, recommended pairings for the wines, and information about the Moon Mountain District and wine country.

Become a founding Moon Mountain Member and stay well-stocked on great wines to drink. You choose how many bottles and how often you receive them and we’ll deliver them straight from the winery to your doorstep.

Take the journey with us.

The Option to Customize

Every month, your wine shipment will be hand-selected by our team, unless you’d like to choose them yourself. You can customize your bottles any month you want — say, you need all Rosé wines for poolside sipping in June, a mix of varietals in November for Thanksgiving dinners, or you just really want to stock up on a favorite from the previous month’s shipment. The option to customize or be surprised is totally up to you.

Refer a friend and get a $50 credit towards your next wine purchase!

At Ty Caton Vineyards, we believe that wine creates memories and is made to be shared. If sharing our wine leads to your friends or family also becoming Moon Mountain Members, then we would like to show our gratitude with a $50 credit toward your next wine purchase!* To receive this benefit, the only thing your friend has to do is let us know they are joining as a result of your referral!

*You must be a current member. Each $50 credit can be redeemed for wine purchases outside Moon Mountain box allocations.

About the Moon Mountain District

High up in the Mayacamas Mountain Range, known for centuries as the Valley of the Moon, lies one of California’s newest delimited appellations known as the Moon Mountain District. It achieved official American Viticultural Area (AVA) status in 2013.

This mountainous viticultural area is warmer than the Sonoma Valley floor. With a longer growing season, this fruit sees earlier bud break in the spring and longer hang time on the vines in the fall.  As a result, Moon Mountain District grapes have the desired balance of sugars and acidity and produce rich, intensely flavored, and well-balanced wines.

The terroir in the Moon Mountain District is distinct and one of the main reasons that a specific AVA title was approved within the Sonoma Valley. While much of the surrounding area has sedimentary soils, the Moon Mountain District’s vineyards sit on iron-rich volcanic soils. These red, rocky soils are thin and well-drained, which stresses the vines and leads to lower yields and less leafy canopy growth, resulting in smaller, highly concentrated berries.
