Actively Seeking Excellence At Ty Caton Vineyards, our commitment to excellence begins in the Caton Vineyard where winemaker Ty Caton sustainably farms the hillside fruit used in his Moon Mountain District wine. As one of the few exclusively estate producers in Sonoma Valley, Ty works with the grapes from soil to glass enabling him to make extraordinary wines that showcase the vineyard. Forging a new definition of quality, Ty Caton is dedicated to Actively Seeking Excellence.
Located on northwestern California’s western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Ty Caton Vineyards is perfectly situated to cultivate top-quality grapes in the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma Valley. We have spread our 40-acre Vineyard over more than 100 aces of steeply contoured hillsides bearing a uniqueness that complements the wines they produce.
The Ty Caton Vineyard boasts of rich history. Our location is the site of vineyards and a winery founded way back in the 1920s and was consistently operational through the infamous prohibition times and survived into the 1940s.
Ty began work on the vineyard in 1997 and developed it into the world-class vineyard it is today. That year, he moved back to Sonoma, his hometown, after college and various real estate ventures, yearning to do something great in this town that he grew up in and loved.
Ty knew that the pedigree land of the prestigious Moon Mountain District, home to world-class vineyards and boasting various soil types, elevations and sun exposures, was perfect for cultivating grapes. Three long years of property development and Ty Caton Vineyards was established.

Since its inception, Ty Caton Vineyards has witnessed significant growth and development to become one of the best vineyards in Sonoma Valley. We have received critical acclaim in world-renowned competitions and wine publications, including numerous Best of Class honors.
The inaugural vintage 2003 of my flagship wines, Tytanium, has been awarded “Best of Class” in the largest competition of American wines several times. Our 2008 vintage was among the top five wines of the year in the 27th Annual Quarterly Review of Wines Blind Tasting.
